Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting West Bengal today to inaugurate and initiate major highway infrastructure projects valued at nearly ₹3,200 crore, aimed at enhancing road connectivity and accelerating economic development across the state.
At approximately 11:15 AM, the Prime Minister will attend an event in Ranaghat, located in Nadia district, where he will inaugurate completed projects, lay foundation stones for upcoming works, and address a public gathering.
As part of the visit, PM Modi will dedicate the 66.7-kilometre four-lane stretch of the Barajaguli–Krishnanagar section of National Highway-34 in Nadia district. Additionally, he will lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of the 17.6-kilometre Barasat–Barajaguli section of NH-34 in North 24 Parganas district.
These projects form a crucial segment of the Kolkata–Siliguri corridor and are expected to significantly enhance travel efficiency. Once completed, the upgraded highway network is projected to cut travel time by nearly two hours, ease traffic congestion, reduce vehicle operating costs, and ensure smoother transportation for passengers and freight alike.
