Mann Ki Baat: PM Modi Calls for Quality-Driven Growth, Highlights India’s Rapid Economic Progress
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday urged entrepreneurs, start-ups and young professionals to place greater emphasis on quality and excellence in manufacturing and innovation, stating that India’s fast- growing economy is drawing global attention.
Speaking during his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat on Akashvani, the Prime Minister said that the country must strive to raise standards across every sector if it hopes to achieve its long-term vision of becoming a developed nation.
‘Zero Defect, Zero Effect’ Reiterated
Mr Modi reminded listeners of his earlier call for “Zero Defect, Zero Effect,” encouraging industries to produce goods that are both high in quality and environmentally responsible. He said excellence should become the default benchmark for Indian products as the nation works toward the goal of a “Viksit Bharat.”
He added that sustained improvements in quality would accelerate India’s transformation into a global manufacturing and innovation hub.
Message on National Voters’ Day and Republic Day
Marking National Voters’ Day, the Prime Minister described voters as the backbone of democracy and urged communities to celebrate young citizens who participate in elections for the first time.
Looking ahead to Republic Day, he noted that the Constitution came into effect on this historic date and called upon citizens to honour the architects of India’s democratic framework.
Culture, Youth and Global Indian Communities
Mr Modi also spoke about India’s rich spiritual and cultural traditions, saying devotional music such as bhajans and kirtans have been central to Indian life for centuries. He observed that younger generations are now blending these traditions with modern lifestyles, giving rise to what he described as a new trend popularly referred to as “bhajan clubbing,” particularly among Gen Z.
Highlighting the Indian diaspora, the Prime Minister praised the community in Malaysia for preserving Indian languages and heritage. He pointed to the presence of hundreds of Tamil schools in the country and efforts to promote linguistic diversity through Telugu, Punjabi and other regional languages.
He also mentioned a cultural event organised by the Malaysia India Heritage Society, noting that it paid tribute to the iconic “Lal Paad Saree,” which holds special significance in Bengali tradition.
Focus on Artificial Intelligence
Concluding his address, the Prime Minister spoke about the upcoming India AI Impact Summit, saying the event would showcase the country’s progress and growing influence in the global artificial intelligence landscape.
The programme touched on economic growth, democratic participation, cultural preservation and emerging technologies, reinforcing the government’s emphasis on innovation rooted in quality and tradition.
