India’s Economic Progress and Technology Leadership Take Centre Stage at Davos

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that India’s strong economic performance and leadership in technology are emerging as major discussion points at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.

India’s Growth Story Draws Global Attention

Speaking at the summit, Vaishnaw stated that India’s development journey under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being closely followed by global leaders, business heads, and policymakers. According to him, India’s economic reforms and innovation-driven growth model are receiving widespread recognition.

He added that the Indian delegation is actively participating in key sessions to present how the country is balancing rapid growth with inclusivity and equitable development.

Strong Indian Participation at Davos 2026

Vaishnaw highlighted that India’s presence at Davos is being strongly felt across various platforms. He mentioned that the delegation, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is engaging in major discussions related to development, technology, and investment.

Technology and Inclusive Growth in Focus

The Union Minister said that India’s leadership in digital infrastructure, emerging technologies, and innovation ecosystems is a key theme across conversations at the forum. He also emphasized that inclusive growth remains central to India’s global narrative.

Engagement with Global Economies

Addressing questions on bilateral meetings, Vaishnaw explained that the Davos platform mainly facilitates panel discussions and informal interactions. Formal trade talks and negotiations, he noted, usually take place through separate diplomatic and economic channels.

He stressed that India remains actively engaged with major global economies across sectors, beyond the Davos meetings.

About the World Economic Forum Meeting

The 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum is being held from January 19 to 23, 2026, in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. The event has brought together nearly 3,000 participants from more than 130 countries under the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue.”

Global leaders from government, business, civil society, and academia are taking part in discussions aimed at addressing pressing global challenges and shaping collective action.

India’s Renewable Energy Push Highlighted

India is also being showcased at the forum as one of the world’s fastest-growing renewable energy markets. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi urged international investors to partner with India in its clean energy expansion.

The message reinforced India’s commitment to sustainable development, green growth, and long-term climate goals.
