The Raja Saab Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 10: ₹200 Crore Mark Finally Achieved
After a sluggish run at the box office, Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab has finally crossed the ₹200 crore mark worldwide on its tenth day in theatres. While the milestone may sound impressive on paper, trade analysts consider the pace alarmingly slow, especially when compared to the actor’s previous releases.
Box Office Performance: Strong Start, Steep Fall
The film opened on a thunderous note, raking in nearly ₹100 crore worldwide on its first day. This massive opening created expectations of a blockbuster run. However, the momentum did not last long as collections witnessed a sharp decline soon after the opening weekend.
Failure to Sustain Momentum
The Raja Saab struggled to pass the crucial weekday test, with Monday collections dropping significantly. Even the festive Sankranti period failed to revive the film’s fortunes. By the second weekend, domestic numbers had dipped drastically.
During its second weekend, the film managed to earn only around ₹9 crore net in India, marking a fall of over 90 percent compared to its opening weekend. By the end of the first week, the film’s domestic collection stood at approximately ₹139 crore net, translating to nearly ₹167 crore gross.
Overseas Collection Offers Limited Relief
Internationally, the film benefited from a strong opening in the United States, which helped it collect close to $4 million overseas. Despite this early boost, overseas earnings also slowed down rapidly after the initial days.
Combining domestic and international figures, the film’s worldwide gross reached just over ₹200 crore by day 10, highlighting its underwhelming performance.
Slowest ₹200 Crore Run for a Prabhas Film
What makes the situation more concerning is the time taken to reach this milestone. The Raja Saab took ten full days to cross ₹200 crore worldwide, making it the slowest Prabhas film to do so in the post-Baahubali era.
Comparison with Previous Flops
Even Prabhas’ earlier box office disappointments like Adipurush and Saaho had crossed the ₹200 crore mark within just two days of release. In comparison, The Raja Saab is nearly five times slower, underlining the extent of its struggle.
Given that both those films eventually wrapped up their theatrical runs in the ₹390–430 crore range, trade experts believe The Raja Saab is unlikely to reach even those numbers.
Budget vs Returns: A Growing Concern
Reportedly made on a massive budget of around ₹400 crore, The Raja Saab currently remains deep in losses. With collections slowing further, the film is expected to finish its theatrical run well below its break-even point.
About the Film
Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab marked Prabhas’ return to a lighter, family-oriented entertainer after more than a decade. Following the Baahubali films, the actor had largely focused on large-scale action spectacles, making this project a notable shift in genre.
Despite initial curiosity and fan excitement around the idea of “vintage Prabhas,” the film received largely negative reviews from critics. Weak word-of-mouth eventually took a toll on its box office prospects.
The film features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, Riddhi Kumar, Boman Irani, and Zarina Wahab. However, strong casting could not compensate for the film’s shortcomings in execution and storytelling.
