New Mercedes-Benz V-Class Set for India Launch on 3 March
The latest-generation Mercedes-Benz V-Class is ready to make its India debut on 3 March, marking the arrival of the second-generation update of the luxury MPV. After introducing the first version in 2024, the German brand is now preparing to strengthen its presence in the fast-growing premium people-mover segment.
With rising demand for chauffeur-driven luxury vehicles across corporate, film and political circles, the updated V-Class is expected to target buyers seeking comfort, road presence and high-end features.
Exterior and Interior Highlights
Design updates are likely to include a refreshed Mercedes-style grille, large sliding rear doors for easy access, diamond-cut alloy wheels and a wide rear windscreen flanked by vertical tail lamps.
Inside, the MPV is expected to follow the brand’s modern cabin theme with:
- Dual digital screens for infotainment and instrumentation
- A three-spoke multifunction steering wheel
- Floating-style centre console
- Premium upholstery and ambient lighting
A four-seat configuration will remain standard, while an optional luxury-focused package could introduce a swivelling second row to enhance rear-seat comfort.
Engine and Transmission
The upcoming V-Class is expected to be offered exclusively with diesel power. Under the bonnet, it is likely to feature the V220d powertrain—a 2.0-litre four-cylinder motor producing around 158bhp and 380Nm of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
This setup is tuned for smooth highway cruising and relaxed urban driving, key requirements for buyers in this category.
Expected Price in India
Given the growing appetite for ultra-premium MPVs, the new V-Class is anticipated to sit in the Rs. 1 crore to Rs. 1.5 crore price bracket, depending on variant and equipment levels.
This would place it among the country’s most expensive luxury vans, competing for attention from high-net-worth individuals and fleet operators offering elite transport services.
Future VLS and Electric VLE Models on the Radar
The new V-Class could also pave the way for even more upmarket offerings from Mercedes-Benz in India. Internationally, the company plans to introduce the VLS in internal-combustion form and the VLE as a fully electric alternative around 2027.
Both models are expected to reach Indian shores shortly after their global debut, signalling the brand’s long-term commitment to the premium MPV and electric mobility space.
