Kia India Clocks 27,603 Sales in January 2026, Marks Double-Digit Year-on-Year Rise
Kia India began 2026 on a positive note by retailing 27,603 vehicles in January, reflecting a 10.3 per cent increase compared with the same month last year. The automaker had sold 25,025 units in January 2025, making the latest figures a steady step forward in an otherwise competitive market.
Company officials credited the growth to stable demand across the model lineup, particularly for best-sellers such as the Seltos, Sonet and Carens Clavis in both internal combustion and electric forms. The Carens Clavis EV continues to stand out as the only electric MPV in its segment.
Core Models Drive Volumes
The Seltos and Sonet remained Kia’s strongest contributors during the month, supported by consistent urban and semi-urban demand. Meanwhile, the Carens Clavis range — including its EV derivative — helped expand Kia’s footprint among family buyers looking for practicality combined with modern technology.
The company is also banking on the next-generation Seltos to further strengthen its position in the mid-size SUV space, where competition remains intense.
Upcoming SUVs and EVs on the Radar
Spy images of heavily camouflaged prototypes have hinted at Kia’s future product pipeline for India. Test mules of the Syros EV and the Sorento have recently been spotted on public roads, indicating that development work is progressing steadily.
The Sorento, expected to be positioned as a premium full-size SUV with a powerful petrol engine, is being lined up as a rival to established ladder-frame models. Both upcoming vehicles are anticipated to reach showrooms in the final quarter of the 2026 calendar year.
Expected India Pricing Outlook
While official prices are yet to be announced, industry estimates suggest the Syros EV could be priced around ₹25 lakh to ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on battery options and features. The larger Sorento is expected to command a premium, likely in the region of ₹40 lakh to ₹48 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it firmly in the upper end of the SUV segment.
Outlook for 2026
Although January growth was described as measured rather than explosive, Kia’s steady volumes and expanding electric-vehicle plans point to an eventful year ahead. With refreshed models and new launches in the pipeline, the brand is aiming to consolidate its gains and challenge rivals across multiple segments.
